MCN Announces 5 for '10--Five new services and upgrades for 2010.
Item #2 Secure E-mail Transmission: Today we're announcing that we are deploying encrypted TLS and SSL email transmission for both our incoming and outgoing servers by March 4th. Incoming mail SSL is already implemented. As of today, if your mail client supports it, you can use SSL for your
incoming mail transmission. All you have to do is make a quick
adjustment to your e-mail program. We have added instructions for
turning on
SSL incoming e-mail for all of the major e-mail clients such as
Outlook, Outlook Express, Thunderbird, and OS X Mail added to our Special E-mail Features Instructions. These secure transmission protocols allow for encryption of your password and your e-mail messages to and from the MCN mail servers from any Internet connection. These are good to use if you are away from home, using a wi-fi hotspot, or just want some additional security during transmission of your e-mail messages. We encourage everyone to take advantage of this service. There is no charge to use this service. We will turn on TLS for incoming and outgoing mail and SSL for outgoing mail on Wednesday March 4th at 11 AM. We'll update our instructions page on March 3rd with how to use those protocols.
