Five new services and upgrades for 2010
Item #3: Formatted Invoices (HTML invoices).
Beginning February 23rd, we're going to start sending out invoices with HTML formatting.  Webmail users who want to read the HTML e-mails will need to make an adjustment in their webmail settings to read the HTML e-mails.
  • Click on Options once you have logged into the webmail system.  
  • Click on Display Options.
  • Put a check by "Show HTML Version by Default:"
  • Click Submit
If you receive an invoice after February 23rd and have trouble reading it please contact MCN at 937-1444 or (800)796-3896 and we will set you back to text invoices.

Community Lists and Public Lists - MCN maintains free community listservs for our users. These lists allow members of a particular (micro)geographical community to converse with each other via email. Typical uses are to advertise garage sales, pothole-in-the-road warnings, and discussion of common interests.

**IMPORTANT NOTE: After subscribing to a listserv, with either method described above, you will receive an email acknowledging you've joined a group.  You MUST reply to that email to complete the procedure for each listserv to which you have subscribed or un-subscribed.

Digests - Digests are a method of receiving information from a particular list to which you are subscribed - the difference is you receive one or two emails a day (with headers of the day's posts at the top and the content of all the posts listed at the bottom) instead of receiving all posts individually. To make any subscription Digest please contact the List Manager at MCN This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. Create Your Own Listserv: MCN Listservs cost $10 per month with a one time $5 setup fee for each . Listservs are available free of charge to qualifying non-profit and community organizations within Mendocino County.

GUIDELINES FOR THE PUBLIC LISTS (or....how to get your email to post)
Please understand the guidelines set up for the public lists are made in consideration of all the members.

  • Send all posts to [list name]@lists.mcn.org     i.e. This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it   or  This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it

  • You can only post from the email address with which you subscribed to the list

  • You can only post if you're subscribed to the list

  • No attachments are allowed (in consideration of virus dangers and slower connections)

  • 10 recipient limit (# of email addresses the post is sent to)

  • Email size limit of 200K (1000K = 1M) in consideration of slower connections

--To keep the size of your post down delete the older posts that show up at the bottom when you reply to a topic. Maybe just sum up what you're referring to instead of including all the emails that have already been posted

If you go on vacation you might consider un-subscribing to all your lists so you don't come home to a zillion emails.

If you put an autoresponder on your email then definitely un-subscribe to all lists.

 

You can subscribe to the Digest version of a list to receive only 1 or 2 Digest emails instead of every single post to the list. In the Digest email you'll see the headers and senders of all posts received that day and then you can scroll down to read them all. You receive less email but realize there will be a delay since they're sent only once or twice a day.

To be a "Digest" member please send an email to This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it and specify the list on which you want your subscription changed to Digest. Or call MCN 9-6 Monday through Thursday and ask for the List Manager (Lynne).
